In each area of Falcon Formation, we look at how students are engaging by becoming aware of themselves in various contexts, through experiential learning, and by looking at the competencies they have developed as result of relationships, programs, and experiences. These things help us to evaluate how well we are reaching our goals in helping students develop holistically.
We believe there is significant learning happening everywhere — both in the academic curriculum and through daily experiences in the co-curriculum.
Prospective students
Are you a prospective student? Falcon Formation is about what you can expect to experience during your time as an SPU student. This is what sets us apart from other universities.
As you research colleges and universities, ask yourself what you want out of a college experience.
- Do you want to develop lifelong relationships and grow as a leader and community builder?
- Do you want to be shaped spiritually and grow in your faith?
- Do you want to develop a deeper understanding of the world and learn how to not only engage it, but also to change it?
- Do you want to learn how to pursue your calling? Do you want to learn how to be healthy and pursue wellness in all aspects of your life?
- Do you want to thrive academically and learn new concepts and ideas and ways of thinking?
If your answer is yes to those questions, then we think Seattle Pacific University and Falcon Formation would be a perfect fit for you.
Current students
Falcon Formation is a way of saying: This is what we want you to experience as a student. We want you to be formed holistically by the things you do and experience at Seattle Pacific University. Whether you know it or not, every activity and class and event you participate in has a purpose — and that purpose is to help you become the person you are meant to be.
We want you to leave this place with deep relationships, solid connections, academic knowledge, and professional experiences that enable you to find a career and pursue a calling. That’s what Falcon Formation is all about.
Parents
We know that your student’s experience while at Seattle Pacific University is one of your top priorities. We know you want him or her to grow intellectually, socially, spiritually, and personally. We know you want your student to take care — get a good night’s sleep before a test, eat healthy meals, make friends, and have fun.
We also know you’re hoping your student graduates from college with minimal debt, and pursues a career that invigorates him or her. We know that you want your student to be offered, and find, the support needed to thrive while he or she is an SPU student. Falcon Formation can help your student achieve those goals.
Faculty and staff
We want every faculty and staff member to be aware of how Falcon Formation shapes our students. The work you and other faculty and staff members do in various departments and programs offers a unique contribution to students’ lives, and to the life of this community as a whole.
The way students are formed is directly impacted by the course you are teaching, by the room you are reserving, by praying for a student you met with last week, by the spreadsheet you’ve been working on for the past month.
If you see areas where these ideas could be improved or enhanced, we want your feedback. When it comes to Falcon Formation, every person is important.
